Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Buhari
Dr. Mohammed Dahiru Buhari is the Deputy Director of Innovations at Kampala International University, Western Campus, and a Senior Lecturer in Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. He is an accomplished researcher and innovator with over a decade of academic and industry experience, specialising in advanced sensing technologies and their application to real-world challenges.
Dr. Buhari holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Newcastle University, United Kingdom, an MSc in Telecommunication Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, and a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Nigeria. He has also served as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he contributed to research and curriculum development.
His research interests include microwave radar sensing and imaging, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), signal processing, compressed sensing, and sensor design. His work has contributed to innovative applications in smart healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure inspection, surveillance, and non-destructive testing, including internationally funded projects in the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
A registered engineer and member of leading professional bodies including IEEE, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Dr. Buhari combines research excellence with a strong commitment to innovation and mentorship. As Deputy Director of Innovations, he contributes to strengthening KIU's innovation ecosystem by promoting technology-driven solutions, interdisciplinary research, and the translation of academic ideas into practical solutions with societal and industrial impact.
